1st RMB Regional Fairgrounds Holiday Toy Drive Benefiting Children of the Women’s Shelter of South Texas
Robstown, TX (November 20, 2017) – The Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds is collaborating with the Women’s Shelter of South Texas, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, in our first ever “RMB Regional Fairgrounds Holiday Toy Drive.” The Toy Drive will benefit children of the Women’s Shelter of South Texas in hopes of providing children in need with toys for the holiday season. Providing holiday toys for children can be a struggle for families especially those have been victims of domestic violence. Together we can help our community and bring the most joyous time of the year a dream come true for children of the Women’s Shelter of South Texas. New unwrapped donations will be accepted and collected November 27th-December 15th at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds during office hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Toy Drive Benefits Children from 0 to 17 Years Old
Toy Drive donations will benefit children from ages 0 – 17 years old. The Women’s Shelter of South Texas appreciates and welcomes all donations. Below is a list of items that can be donated in order to make this holiday season one to remember.
Toys for ages 0-17 years old
Gift cards
Gas cards
Tennis shoes or Shower shoes (flip flops) ages 0-17 years old
Clothing for ages 0-17 years old
Electronics
Wrapping paper and tape
Gift Card Uses for Children and Family
Gift cards to stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, H-E-B, or other general retailers allow clients of the Women’s Shelter of South Texas to choose items that their individual family needs at the time they are receiving services. For example, clients can benefit from a gift card to help purchase gas for their vehicle to relocate to a safe location, purchases of shoes and clothes for their children to wear to school, and food for their family.

Toy drive donations will be accepted and collected November 27th-December 15th at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds during office hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

About the Women’s Shelter of South Texas
The Women's Shelter of South Texas is the only private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization specifically designed to provide services to victims of domestic and sexual violence across a twelve-county South Texas region, which includes Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio counties. In January 2018, the organization will celebrate 40 years of on-going service to the community. The Women's Shelter of South Texas provides FREE services. The agency empowers survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout a 12-county region of South Texas. Our shelter in Corpus Christi operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Women’s Shelter of South Texas services include counseling, support groups, 24-hour safe shelter, info & referrals, children’s activities, hospital accompaniment, crisis intervention, food, clothing, personal items, transportation, 24-hour hotline, criminal justice advocacy, BIPP, community education, and awareness.

This January 13, 2017, marked the 10th year anniversary for the Richard M. Borchard (RMB) Regional Fairgrounds since its' grand opening in 2007. For the past decade, the 45-acre complex has seen success grow every year since 2007 with 19,170 events and 1,468,349 in attendance.
